Why read another book on heaven? Jeffress writes, "...the more we think nearly the next earth the more effective we become in this globe." (17) Thinking about heaven reminds the states of the brevity of life and the certainty of future judgment. It motivates us to live God pleasing lives and it places suffering in perspective. There were some aspects of this volume that brand information technology a skilful one to read. Jeffress writes most the present heaven where God resides at present and where Christians go when they die. He also writes well-nigh the future heaven that Jesus is constructing for us and John described in Revelation. Jeffress says the topic confuses many Christians but he explains it well. I had not thought of these ii heavens and I am glad he clarified it for me.
He also writes well-nigh the "I went to sky" experiences. He reminds united states that Scripture is our measuring rod for those who make such claims. I really like that he suggests such books might make us think that the Bible does non tell us all we demand to know almost sky. Jeffress includes many criteria for evaluation so that nosotros are not taken in by such accounts.
I found his section on what we will exist doing in heaven interesting likewise. For example, he writes well-nigh Christians ruling and reigning with Christ. Jeffress writes, "Those who volition dominion and reign with Christ in the new world will be those who have the desire and ability to rule." (111) If leadership responsibilities terrify the states, we tin can relax. Chances are we will be working with our hands rather than directing people. (111) Jeffress adds this about leading in heaven, "The single greatest determiner of leadership responsibilities in the adjacent life volition be faithfulness to God in this life." (112) I am still thinking about that.
Jeffress writes about hell too. He is a firm believer in its being and that it is the destiny of many.
That gives potential readers an idea of what the book is like. Fifty-fifty though I have read many books on sky, I even so found new insights in this one. It is a good book for those who have not read much nearly heaven too. Many questions about it are answered, based on what the Bible says.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Icon Media. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Affiliate one/What divergence does a hereafter heaven make?: When we get ready to go along a trip, we program in advance for that trip. Our lives are on loan from God, and he can telephone call in on that loan anytime. A man named Harold had a count down to his 70th altogether to motivate himself to utilize his time wisely. Afterwards his 70th birthday he then added lines for the actress days God had given him. Overall I enjoyed this book. He goes off on a lot of tangents and doesn't alway reply is question in the affiliate titles.
Chapter 1/What difference does a future heaven make?: When we get ready to go on a trip, we plan in advance for that trip. Our lives are on loan from God, and he can call in on that loan anytime. A man named Harold had a count down to his 70th birthday to motivate himself to use his time wisely. After his 70th birthday he then added lines for the extra days God had given him. Christians think about Sky besides lilliputian. The more than we think virtually the next earth, the more constructive we become in this world. The writer's last four weeks every bit pastor (before he leaves for another job) are commonly his almost productive. ii Corinthians five:6,eight Paul realized that every infinitesimal spent alive on earth was a minute abroad from the habitation Jesus had prepared for him in Heaven. God knows that our minds are incapable of fully comprehending the complete magnificence of heaven. Focusing on Heaven reminds us of the brevity of our earthly life, prepares the states for sentence, motivates us to lead pure lives. Every Christian wears 2 kinds of garments. Our inner tunic is our judicial righteousness – significant our correct standing with God. The outer tunic represents a Christian'due south ethical righteousness or correct acting before God. Focusing on Sky places suffering in perspective. River with water of life and tree of life will exist at that place (Rev 22:1-ii)
Affiliate 2/Is Sky a real place or is it a state of mind? Many mansions and Jesus prepares a identify for us (John 14:i-3). Place indicates that it is non a country of mind. I will ascend to heaven; I will enhance my throne above the stars of God (Isaiah 14:3). First heaven=earth's temper, Second heaven=outer infinite, Third heaven (where we become when we die/Paradise)=presence of God, Quaternary Sky/futurity heaven= our future abode/new earth/heaven on earth. In Dallas (where the writer lives), wealthy individuals will buy a house and completely demolish it in order to build a new one on the lot. God is doing something like for u.s.a. (burning the earth for a new heaven). There will no longer be seas on the globe Rev 21:1 (in social club to provide for al the inhabitants). At that place will not be a sun or a moon for this new heaven, Jesus will be our light. (Rev 21:23) New Jerusalem (capital city in heaven) volition be 1500 miles (ii million square miles). It will have 660,000 stores and get from Applician mountains to California and from Canada to Mexico. Nosotros won't need law or doctors.
Chapter iii/Have some people already visited Heaven? Near Decease Experiences (NDE) is a profound psychological event that may occur to someone shut to death. Common themes: sensation of floating, traveling toward a light, fourth dimension in otherworld, encountering deceased loved ones, sensation of peace and love, being called back. God hasn't told us everything almost heaven, but he has revealed everything we NEED to know. Satan tin masquerade as a being of light 2 Cor. eleven:fourteen. We interpret our experiences through a cultural lens. Nosotros come across what we want to see. Christian will come across being of light and assume information technology is Jesus. There are no Biblical accounts of NDEs.
Chapter 4/Do Christians immediately go to Heaven when they die? Death is every person's fate considering every homo, woman and kid is guilty of sin confronting God. Therefore, beingness always of good courage, and knowing that while nosotros are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord – for we walk by organized religion, non by sight – we are of practiced courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the torso and to be at dwelling house with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8). While our bodies are here on world we are not in the presence of Christ. Those expressionless in Christ will exist in the third heaven, until the new sky is created. God created us body, soul and spirit. We accept to have an interim trunk (spirit body) when nosotros die and before nosotros are given our new resurrected body. All people exercise not experience the same destiny when they die.
Chapter 5/What volition we do in Heaven? A kid kicks his legs rhythmically through backlog, not absence of life. Because children accept abounding vitality, because they are in spirit vehement and complimentary, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. They always say, "do information technology again' and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. For grown-up people are non strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is stiff enough to exult in monontony. It is possible that God says every morning, 'do it again' to the dominicus and every evening 'do it again' to the moon. It may be that He has the eternal ambition of infancy; for nosotros take sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we. (G.K. Chesterton). Our two primary responsibilities will be worship and work. Adam worked in the garden and worshipped God every morning. Sky will exist exuberant worship and singing. Nosotros volition always be engaged in worship. There will be many jobs that volition not be needed: doctor (no disease), police (no crime), lawyers (no lawsuits). Christs kingdom will be run by his followers (not politicians). Our assignment will be based on our interests and abilitities. It volition also depend on our faithfulness on earth.
Chapter six/Practice people in Heaven know what is happening on Earth? Paul described his life as a spectacle to those on earth and in heaven. (1 Cor four:ix) Luke 16: Lazarus (heaven) and rich man (hell) are enlightened of each other and what is happening. In that location will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:seven,10)
Chapter 7/Will we know one another in Heaven? Nosotros volition have physical bodies in heaven. Every person will take a trunk and a spirit. First and second resurrections are discussed in this chapter. God has all the elements at his disposal, no difficulty can prevent him from commanding the earth, fire, and water to give up what they have destroyed. Your new body will non be completely unlike your old body on earth. Jesus had the power to materialize at will with his new trunk. Jesus was recognized past those on earth because of the similarities between is old and new body. Heavenly bodies will suffer, be complimentary of sin, exist powerful, and are for the new world. We will wear clothes in sky. We will all be beautiful.
Affiliate viii/Volition Sky be the same for everyone? We will all appear earlier the sentence seat of Christ. Our works do not secure us a place in heaven, but they practise determine our feel in heaven. God knows every discussion and idea we have had! Each of us is in the process of building our house of life. We need to construct our house so it withstands the heat of Christ'due south judgement. Those who run in a race all run only only i receives the prize? (1 Cor ix:24-27). Everyone in heaven will exist fully blessed, only not anybody volition be equally blest. My advantage is with Me, to return to every man according to what he has washed (Rev 22:12). Story: beggar who had bowl of rice was asked to give to the wealthy man. He gave 1 grain and so another. After the wealthy man was gone the ragamuffin noticed that there was a golden grain for each grain he had given.
Affiliate nine/Who volition be in Heaven? He tells the story of traveling to Winnipeg when he should have been in Vancouver. Those who have trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of their sins will be in Heaven. God has already decided the standard by which people will be admitted into His presence. Signpost 1: we accept a sin problem: all of want to protest our innocence even when we accept cookie crumbs on our chin. Signpost 2: God is Sinless: the standing dominion of heaven is holiness. Signpost three: Jesus is the only solution to our sin trouble: Jesus suffered for our sins, and God credited us with the righteousness or perfection of Jesus. Justification declares u.s.a. righteous. Signpost four: WE must choose to accept Christ'south offering of Forgiveness: It is not enough to know you need gas in your car, yous accept to actually take the gas cap off and fill up your automobile with gas. Abraham's faith (non his works) qualified him for heaven. At that place are no children in hell and none are e'er mentioned at the judgement seat (assumption – they all go to sky).
Chapter 10/How can I prepare for Heaven? Make sure y'all have a valid passport – stamped forgiven. Live with a destination mindset – he gets the virtually washed when he knows he is leaving a congregation for a new chore, because his time is limited. Refuse to allow death to paralyze you with fearfulness – nosotros should have faith that we won't go out world until our appointed time. Brand the most of your time on earth – 70 years are given to us. We should not waste our fourth dimension watching Television and playing video games. Minimize your predeparture regrets – live our truthful lives, don't work so difficult, express our feelings, be happy. Important categories: God, family, friends, career, finances. Have intendance of applied matters before you depart – one human being had a notebook with all financial information listed. Abraham died in a ripe old age, an old human and satisfied with life, and he was gathered to his people. Heaven is a place more magnificent than you could ever imagine. Information technology'due south a place where every heartache will be erased and every dream will be fulfilled. It'south a place reserved for those who have received God'southward forgiveness through faith in Christ.

I recollect Dr. J I'chiliad having a hard fourth dimension reviewing this volume considering I feel that it had then many ups and downs. At times I was totally captivated by its depictions of sky and the illustrations that fabricated the words on the page seem real. But at other times my mind wandered and seemed that the pages may stretch on forever. I imagine that Heaven is something very hard to write about. Information technology's a place no 1 has been and the Bible is really the one reliable source of information we have nearly Heaven.
I think Dr. Jeffress does a neat task of bringing scripture into this volume. He supports his conclusions well and you tin can tell every section has been bathed in the exposition of scripture. I think that is probably this book's biggest check in the positive column. The biggest downfall is simply its length. I think that at times it stretched on further than necessary. Some things may have been able to be put in simpler terms to keep it slightly shorter and more engaging.
All that being said, I call back this book deserves iv out of five stars. It is non necessarily an like shooting fish in a barrel read, and if you program to read it, I would advise giving yourself fourth dimension to digest each proffer. But, information technology does a neat job of covering the hard subject of the mystery of Heaven.

Pastor Jeffress, in clear, understandable linguistic communication And in a very organized manner, Has set for A wonderful picture Of a place we all desire to go to Even though nosotros don't quite understand What nosotros volition find when we become there. I didn't know...... That god left as so many clues, so many glimpses of Heaven in His glorious volume, the Bible. I like rules and regulations and knowing what's expected of me and knowing what I tin can wait if I comply. Silly, mayhap, But did my husband really go immediately to the artillery of our Savior? Using God's words, Abraham'south words, Jesus'south words, the words of the apostles, the puzzle is made amazingly clearer.

There was some excellent parts of this book based on scripture and encouragement. However, many of the author'due south comments were his opinions or what he thinks heaven will be like based on scriptures from the Bible. I don't know what fifty-fifty volition be like based on reading this volume but I do know that I will exist with my God and Saviour Jesus..who died for me and loves beyond human comprehension. I am thankful for his mercy, grace and salvation.

Loved hearing that when God sees someone who truly want to get to know him, he will show them more info almost Jesus and salvation.

I highly recommend this book even if your a new Christian or like me been Christian for quite awhile. Eternity awaits in ane or ii places Heaven or Hell and in this life we have to brand a decision where we spend eternity! If Christ is speaking to your heart have his telephone call earlier information technology's too belatedly, tomorrow is non guaranteed!!

Dr. Jeffries has washed a masterful job of laying out for both believers and unbelievers what they can expect when they die. I would recommend the volume to everyone.

This is a spiritually inspiring book which addresses the fact of our decease. Where will we spend eternity? If y'all know Jesus every bit Savior you lot will go to heaven to be with Him eternally. Our life here is brief so we must determine now.

This was written with God'southward heart in mind. A beautiful and poignant story. Information technology helped me honey God fifty-fifty more than I already do. What a blessing to know that Jesus is waiting with open up artillery to usher usa into his perfect celebrity!!
